Nvidia, the leading graphics processing unit (GPU) manufacturer, has been discussing its artificial intelligence (AI) technology at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2024. The company showcased how its partners use the technology to create realistic digital representations of humans in various occupational activities and gaming applications.

Nvidia ACE (Avatar Cloud Engine) for voice generation and animation, Nvidia NeMo for voice generation, and Nvidia RTX for ray tracing rendering were among the most popular solutions demonstrated at the conference. These technologies help create highly realistic game environments that are more immersive for players.

One of the most exciting demonstrations at the event was Inworld AI’s Covert Protocol, a game developed with the support of Nvidia. The game allows players to feel like an experienced private detective with more opportunities to interact with the characters. The project uses the Inworld Engine, which integrates perception, cognition, and behavior to shape the story and the RTX-rendered game environment. The game also uses Riva voice recognition technology and Nvidia Audio2Face microservices, which enhance the game’s realism.

Digital platform UneeQ, which specializes in creating AI-powered 3D avatars for enterprise applications, has also adopted Nvidia’s Audio2Face microservice and combined it with its proprietary Synanim ML technology. This combination increases the realism of AI-generated avatars, and UneeQ customers have improved the quality of service for their customers.

At the conference, Nvidia also discussed Neural Radiance Cache (NRC), an AI-powered ray tracing algorithm designed to handle indirect light sources in dynamic scenes without pre-processing static light based on geometry and material. Spatial Hash Radiance Cache (ShaRC) technology provides similar capabilities without using neural networks, and it is compatible with any GPU that supports ray tracing in DirectX or Vulkan.

Finally, Nvidia announced that it will soon expand the number of games that support DLSS 3.5 upscaling technology. This technology has the main advantage of being a Ray Reconstruction solution that helps recreate Ray Tracing instead of standard noise reduction algorithms. DLSS 3.5 support is coming to Black Myth: Wukong and Naraka: Bladepoint, which will enhance the gaming experience for players.
