PlayStation 5 Pro will have a ‘key’ dedicated to fixing graphics issues

According to a recent report by Digital Foundry, the PlayStation 5 Pro is expected to receive a significant upgrade, addressing the loss of image quality in video games. The upgraded PlayStation 5 Pro is anticipated to be launched with a 45% more powerful GPU performance than the original, which should resolve lag and degraded image quality commonly experienced in video games. The GPU is critical for games, particularly those that use Dynamic Resolution Scaling technology.

The experts at Digital Foundry have scrutinized the specifications of the upgraded PlayStation 5 in detail and predicted the possible improvements that the PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) and Ultra Boost Mode features may bring. These features should benefit many games right from launch without requiring any additional work from the developers.

Currently, games that use AMD FSR 2 actively, such as Star Wars Jedi Survivor, Avatar Frontiers of Pandora, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and Final Fantasy XVI, exhibit blurry image quality in Performance Mode. The same is true for Immortals of Aveum and all games with VRR modes such as God of War Ragnarok, Spider-Man 2 Insomniac’s, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, The Last of Us: Part I, and The Last of Us Part II Remastered by Naughty Dog.

For games that do not use Dynamic Resolution Scaling technology and can smoothly run at a frame rate of 30 or 60 FPS, the two technologies PSSR and Ultra Boost Mode may not bring significant improvements. These games may require a separate patch for PlayStation 5 Pro to take advantage of the device’s upgraded hardware.

It is important to note that Sony has not yet officially announced the PlayStation 5 Pro. However, rumors suggest that the device may launch before the end of this year.
