PlayStation is making a bunch of new game franchises

The PlayStation game fandom is ready to welcome new names.

According to GadgetMatch, PlayStation has been on a constant stream since their current generation of consoles came out. Besides PlayStation 5, the company has also worked on franchise games and brought them to great success. Now, fans are about to welcome many new franchise games in the near future.

Accordingly, Sony recently held a business presentation about the future of PlayStation. While not much has been shared about the hardware, the company has laid out the upcoming plans for their titles

The notable detail in the announcement is that the company predicts that fiscal year 2025 will see a 50-50 split between new and existing franchise games. Previously in fiscal 2019, the company had an unequal split when only 20% of its development capacity was focused on building new games. This split eventually grew to 40% in the fiscal year 2023.

At the time, this unequal division was aimed at focusing more on PlayStation 5 hardware. Now that the gaming device sector has stabilized, Sony sees more value in building New game franchises for the future.

Notably, Sony also predicts that the direct services market will grow more. The presentation forecast a 60-40 split between live service and traditional gaming, with the larger portion going in favor of live service. Sony is said to be working on 12 live service games at the moment.

In contrast to the traditional game archetype, a live service game is a game genre where developers continuously push for more content after the launch
