The last time Sony appeared at Gamescom was in 2019, which was also the last Live Gamescom event before the Covid-19 pandemic broke out. And now the company has reported to Germany’s GamesMarkt that it has no plans to exhibit at Gamescom this summer.

Gamescom’s opening will return on August 22, with the main event taking place from August 23 to 27. According to organizer Koelnmesse and the German Game Industry Association, as of mid-March, the number of companies registered for the Gamescom 2023 event is 10% more than in 2022.

In April, Nintendo was announced as the first major game publisher to attend Gamescom 2023. The Switch maker also attended Gamescom 2019
