Qualcomm has planned to hold a special event on March 18 to introduce the long-awaited new generation of mobile chips.
According to GSMArena, in its promotional materials, Qualcomm hints at the launch of “new flagship products” at the upcoming event. This appears to be talking about the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 platform, along with the expected Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3.
Recent rumors indicate that the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is a shortened version of the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip launched by Qualcomm late last year. The new chip, codenamed SM8635, is built based on TSMC’s 4nm manufacturing process. The main processing core of Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 operates at a frequency of 2.9 GHz. In addition, the new chip received an Adreno 735 graphics core with a frequency of 900 MHz. The regular version Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has a main core that offers speeds up to 3.3 GHz, while the Adreno 750 graphics core only offers speeds of 770 MHz.
As for the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3, this is a chip that is still quite mysterious, except that it is labeled SM7650. However, the previously released OnePlus Ace 3V is the first smartphone to use this processor chip.
Qualcomm is also currently developing the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip version that the company plans to equip high-end smartphone models launched in the second half of this year. This is a chip equipped with a custom Oryon core by Qualcomm with outstanding performance, but this chip will only be released in October this year at the earliest.
