Realme 5 Pro Review: Premium Smartphone in the Budget Range

Realme has made its mark in the Indian market within just one and a half years. If you look at the data of marketing research companies recently, Realme is the fastest emerging smartphone brand. Realme has made a dent in the market of Xiaomi Redmi Series budget smartphone due to the smartphone from its mid and budget range. Realme has launched about a dozen smartphones so far. Mid-range smartphones such as Realme, Realme 2, Realme 2 Pro, Realme 3, Realme 3 Pro, Realme C1, Realme C2, Realme U1, Realme X, Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro have been launched. The funniest thing is that the price of these smartphones has been kept between 69.65$ to 283.308. Looking at the prices of these smartphones, we can say that Realme has recognized the pulse of the smartphone market.

Realme launched Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro last week. Both these smartphones were already being promoted as Leap to Quad Camera. As clearly written in the tag line, the quad camera is set up in the back of this series. Talking about the high end variant of this series Realme 5 Pro, this smartphone has given many such features that you get to see in a premium smartphone. This smartphone has been launched in three RAM options 4GB, 6GB and 8GB. After using the 8GB + 128GB storage variant of this smartphone, I have brought a review of this smartphone to you.

Premium design

In Realme 5 Pro you can get to see premium design. Its back has a back panel with graded finish. You also get good light reflection in its back panel. Its finish is quite good which gives it a premium device feel. However, its back panel attracts a lot of dusty soil and smudges. You have to keep it in the cover, otherwise fingerprints are easily made in its back panel. Realme is also offering a back cover with it, which can prevent marking on its back panel. Realme 5 Pro comes with two color options Sparkling Blue and Crystal Green.

The front panel of the phone has a waterdrop notch display, which can be seen in every device that comes today. The phone has a 6.3-inch full HD Plus display. I was disappointed with its display as Xiaomi is offering Super AMOLED display with Mi A3 in the same price range. However, even a full HD plus multi-touch display will not disappoint you. It has a screen with 2,340 x 1,080 pixel resolution and 409ppi. You get a brightness of up to 450nits in the phone, as well as a night mode, which protects your eyes. The phone weighs 184 grams which can feel a bit heavy.

Performance

Qualcomm Snapdragon 712AIE processor has been used in Realme 5 Pro. This processor has been used in Vivo Z1 Pro before. In this 10nm octacore processor, you get a frequency of 2.3GHz which is energy efficient up to 35 percent. The phone also has Hyper Game Boost 2.0 which can also make you multi tasking in playing high graphics games like Call of Duty, Battlefield, PUBG Mobile. The phone can also be a better option for gaming lovers.

Realme 5 Pro works on Color OS 6 based on Android 9 Pie. Its most special thing is that VOOC 3.0 fast charging support has been provided in it. In just 45 minutes, the battery of the smartphone is fully charged and you can easily run it for one day. The phone has a 4,035mAh battery. The phone has a USB Type C port which can be called a plus point. Mostly, the USB Type C port is not used in smartphones in this range. For connectivity, dual 4G SIM card support, Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth 5.0 have been used. These latest connectivity features give you a better connectivity option.

Quad camera

Realme has promoted this series as Leap to Quad Camera, so obviously the company’s main focus will be on the camera. In its back you get a quad camera set up. It has a 48 megapixel primary sensor, 8 megapixel wide angle camera, 2 megapixel prot camera and 2 megapixel micro camera. At the same time, it has a 16-megapixel front camera for selfie. Let’s know in detail about its camera

48MP Sony IMX 586 Primary Sensor

First of all, talk about its primary camera, its aperture is given f / 1.79 which supports PDAF (Fed Division Auto Focus). To enable this camera, you have to enable Ultra Mode by going to your smartphone’s camera. It comes with automatic 10x digital zoom. You cannot zoom while taking a photo in this mode which may disappoint you. If you zoom the picture taken with this camera of the phone, it becomes pixelated. In such a situation, you can say that even after having a 48 megapixel sensor, you can only take an average picture from it.

8MP Wide Angle Camera –

This camera has f / 2/25 aperture. The special feature of this camera is that it can capture photos with super night scape. In the phone’s camera, you get many modes like slow motion, panoroma, AI beauty. You also get HDR support as well. Its camera is good for social media uploads. The phone has two 2MP cameras, with a prototype camera that supports Bokeh mode. Apart from this, it has another 2MP micro camera which can also capture 4cm pictures very clearly.

Selfie camera

Its front has a 16-megapixel camera. The Sony IMX 471 sensor has been used in this camera. Its aperture is given f / 2.0. In the selfie camera you get AI beauty mode. With the selfie camera you can click a better picture. However, with the selfie camera, you get a lot of bright pictures which will be liked by the youth. With its selfie camera, you can take a better selfie. Its selfie camera did not disappoint me as much as its 48MP camera did. However, its camera allows you to record 4K video.

cost

The 4GB + 64GB storage variant of Realme 5 Pro is priced at 195.02$. Its 6GB + 64GB variant is priced at 208.95$ and its 8GB + 128GB storage variant is priced at 236.79$. In terms of price, you can call it a mid-budget range premium smartphone. You can increase the internal memory of the phone up to 256GB via microSD card. It has a dedicated slot for memory card.
