Revealing the first information about Xiaomi electric cars

Xiaomi has applied for regulatory licenses with Chinese state authorities before putting its first electric vehicles on the market, and details about them have already begun to emerge.

According to Neowin , China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has shared information related to the first electric cars from Xiaomi, including three main models in the SU7 series: SU7, SU7 Pro and SU7 Max. . These vehicles will be manufactured under contract by Beijing Automotive Industry Co., Ltd. (BAIC) and not Xiaomi. Of these, the SU7 and SU7 Max differ in areas such as top speed and battery technology, with the SU7 having a top speed of 210 km/h, and the SU7 Max reaching a top speed of 265 km/h.

The weight of the SU7 is 1,980 kg, while the SU7 Max is 2,205 kg. SU7 was previously named MS11. Xiaomi offers the SU7 with two powertrain options: RWD with a 220 kW motor and AWD with a 275 kW + 220 kW motor setup.

MIIT records also reveal a third car named SU7 Pro, although specific information about the car has not yet been posted. Additionally, customers can get more variants in the future as part of the SU7 sedan range.

A report from CarNewsChina adds that the SU7 will have the HyperOS system that Xiaomi just announced. This is a “human-centric operating system” platform that can work with devices, cars and smart homes.

Production of the SU7 will begin in December 2023 before going on sale in February 2024.
