Samsung confirms massive data breach

Samsung has confirmed a new data breach after several of its systems in the US were hacked to steal customer data.

According to BleepingComputer , Samsung said its system was compromised at the end of July 2022. Then, on August 4, Samsung discovered that customers’ personal information had been accessed and removed from its network.

While the attackers did not steal social security or credit card numbers in the incident, they did gain access to Samsung customers’ names, contacts, languages, birth dates, and product registration data.

“Samsung discovered the issue and took action to secure the affected systems,” Samsung said. We have worked with a cybersecurity and are coordinating with law enforcement as part of the investigation.”

“The affected information for each relevant customer may vary. We will notify customers to let them know about the issue,” the company added.

Samsung advises affected individuals to exercise caution with any unsolicited communications that ask for personal information or refer them to a website that asks for personal information, to avoid clicking on links or download attachments from suspicious emails; and review accounts for suspicious activity.

This is the second data breach Samsung has confirmed since the start of the year when the company said in March that the Lapsus$ extortion hacker group compromised its network and stole confidential information, including code. source of Galaxy devices.
