Samsung presented its new generation of smartphones on Wednesday with the Galaxy S22 headlining, accompanied this year by two variants, the S22+ with a more solid technical sheet and the S22 Ultra, which is positioned as the successor to the Galaxy Note.
No major changes to the technical specifications of the S22, the brand’s “standard-bearer”, which remains very close to its ancestor except for a few details as you will see in the comparison below. We slightly lose autonomy and we gain a significantly more efficient photosensor according to Samsung. The main improvements this year are at the design level, with a stronger reinforced aluminum case and a layer of Gorilla Glass “Victus”, which is supposed to make the smartphone more resistant than its ancestor. Samsung is also playing the sustainable argument with the use of recycled plastic in the design of this particular model. The Galaxy S22 case is made of 20% recycled plastic recovered from the ocean, the packaging is made from 100% recycled paper as well.
On the software side, we are promised updates for a cycle of 4 years, 5 years for security updates, and of course, Android 12 “out of the box”.

The S22+ differs from the basic model by the size of its screen (6.6″ against 6.1″ for the S22), its battery (4500mAh against 3700), and its compatibility with ultra-fast charging (45W against 25W). These small improvements will be paid for in cash since it will cost 228usd more for this model, i.e. 1198usd instead of 970usd for the S22.
The S22 Ultra stands as the ultimate model. It has a larger screen (6.8″), is equipped with 4 photosensors instead of 3, including a 108-megapixel telephoto lens, has a 5000mAh battery, and supports very fast charging (45W) by default. It stands out from other models in that it comes, like the fire-Galaxy Note, with a stylus that allows you to take notes on the fly and that slips into the smartphone when not in use.
However, the price soars with a price of 1427usd for the 128Gb model, 1541usd (256 GB with 12 GB of RAM), 1656usd (512 GB with 12 GB of RAM), and 1884usd (1 TB with 12 GB of RAM).
S22 and S22+ will be available for sale on March 11. The S22 Ultra will arrive on the market a little earlier since you will be able to find it in stores from February 25th.
