Samsung’s Galaxy Chromebook is a shiny red bid for greatness

Samsung has never made a Galaxy Chromebook – a sleek, lightweight and beautiful convertible notebook at a reasonable price. The company did an excellent job by introducing lower-class Chromebooks that dominated Amazon sales.

The fact that Samsung makes the Galaxy Chromebook shows that the company is ready to join the small movement but rarely makes the best Google laptops. And if Samsung joins when it’s not needed, this step might end up being something.

A Chromebook that makes a statement

The Galaxy Chromebook, announced on Monday at CES in Las Vegas, will be available in the first quarter of 2020 with prices starting at $ 1,000. This makes it one of the most expensive Chromebooks you can buy. Other providers have tried playing in this area and rarely have a grip.

However, executives from Samsung and Google who told reporters at CES said the world was ready. Chromebook users want a better device – a bigger display, faster hardware, a more elegant design.

Samsung really dedicated itself to design by offering a Galaxy Fiesta Red Chromebook (see picture above), which can only be called a statement. Maybe another available color, Mercury Gray, is a safe option, but the shiny red laptop is the type of the desired item that can lure more people to high-end Chromebooks.

Stephen Hawke from Samsung later admitted to PCWorld that cheap Chromebooks continued to dominate. He turned it into positive and said: “We play both below and above.” “People want a better experience and are willing to pay for it.”

The Galaxy Chromebook will make the most satisfied users happy just because of the technical data. Part of Core i5 U is the CPU for calculating performance. RAM and memory are generous; And of course, there is a beautiful display: everything is fixed on a durable aluminum housing that is soft, smooth and slightly sparkling. Here are the other details that we know of:

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-10210U
  • RAM: Up to 16GB LPDDR3
  • Display: 13.3-inch 4K (3840×2160) AMOLED touchscreen
  • Storage: Up to 1TB SSD
  • Ports: Two USB-C, UFS/microSD combo port, audio jack
  • Networking: Wi-Fi 6 (Gig+), 802.11ax
  • Battery: 49.2Wh, estimated to last 10 hours
  • Dimensions: 11.91 x 8 x 0.39 inches
  • Weight: 2.29 pounds
  • Colors: Fiesta Red and Mercury Gray
  • Price: Starting at $1,000

One special specification must be considered: battery life. This 4K screen might look fantastic, but we have seen screens with a high resolution like that reduce the life of other laptops by one third.

Stephen Hawk from Samsung said battery life was not a priority for the Galaxy Chromebook. He acknowledged that “AMOLED screens certainly affect it.” The 10-hour mark should definitely be taken with a grain of salt – your mileage varies.

The Galaxy Chromebook offers some unusual functions, especially the integrated pen that is stored in the spring garage on the right side and is also charged there. This smaller and smaller pen is not always convenient for long-term use. However, you are more likely to use it than lose it, unlike the life of a pen that is wedged in a pen or dropped into your pocket.

There is a fingerprint reader just above the pen garage. You will also receive two cameras, one with 1 MP at the top of the screen and an 8 MP model above the keyboard shelf (see image below). The latter allows you to take photos when your Chromebook is in tablet mode.

We can see that premium Chromebooks have been up and down for a number of years. Is it time to finally shine? Samsung Hawk said that changing consumer needs to promote higher price range capabilities. “For things that people do online, like streaming video, you need a better Chromebook.”

I think the best idea is to offer the Fiesta Red. Even better Chromebooks available today tend to look soft, not to mention lower-class models. Fiesta Red Galaxy Chrome is a scary step that will be taken by a number of users. High-end Chromebook hardware can win some challenges, but Fiesta Red will win hearts.
