Snapdragon X Elite ships mid-year

Qualcomm has just confirmed that Snapdragon X Elite will ship in mid-2024 with a new version of Windows. However, the chipmaker has chosen to call the upcoming operating system simply “Windows”, avoiding specifically mentioning “Windows 11” or “Windows 12”.

Speaking to investors during the Q1 2024 earnings call, Qualcomm confirmed that the new chipset called ” Snapdragon X Elite ” will launch during the back-to-school season and is also tied to the launch of new Windows. According to Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon, there will be multiple “X Elite” models, hinting at “big plans.”

CEO Cristiano Amon said the company’s Snapdragon X Elite chipset for PCs is scheduled for release in mid-2024 and is designed to work in tandem with the next version of Windows.

Qualcomm believes mid-2024 is perfectly aligned with the back-to-school season, aiming to make a significant impact in the market, according to Windowslatest.

Qualcomm did not say the name of the next version of Windows, but the company confirmed that Microsoft is testing some AI (artificial intelligence) features. It’s worth noting that Qualcomm is an important partner of Microsoft, and they hope the next major Windows release will be a game-changer in the market. Snapdragon X Elite aims to set a new benchmark for next-generation Windows PCs, focusing on AI, an area that Qualcomm is pioneering.

The success of the X Elite chipset is considered to be a stepping stone for Qualcomm, not only in PCs but across all of its product lines. Previously, Qualcomm made some claims that the Snapdragon X Elite was much faster than the Apple M chip.
