Sony demonstrates the ability to control electric vehicles with DualSense

At the CES 2024 show in the United States, Sony Honda Mobility not only showcased the most recent Afeela EV model but also used the PlayStation DualSense controller to operate the vehicle live on stage.

Izumi Kawanishi, President and COO of Sony Honda Mobility (SHM) drove the newest Afeela EV prototype and showcased the DualSense on stage, according to ING. Kawanishi, though, claimed that the demonstration was only intended “to introduce the technology.”

according to Kawanishi, thinks the software can assist in defining new functionality and value. The purpose of the technology demonstration is to illustrate how humans and future mobility are related. Nevertheless, this was an unexpected moment from Sony’s CES 2024 press conference that also startled viewers who were watching it online.

Not all of the news about gaming and entertainment was about using the DualSense to control the Afeela EV. Kawanishi also hinted at several potential choices, such as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Fortnite on the in-car screen, when Sony Honda Mobility was introduced at CES 2024.

Furthermore, a great deal of information regarding Sony Honda Mobility’s partnership with Epic Games has been made public. A simulator that will leverage “virtual space to create new user experiences around mobility” has been used to demonstrate this.

According to Sony Honda Mobility, the application replicates data about the outside world, including weather, other cars, pedestrians, and topography. By merging this technology with augmented virtual reality, users will experience a more immersive and secure experience. According to the company, “SHM offers aesthetically stunning 3D maps that are overlaid with a wealth of internet metadata.” Additionally, map data can be utilized to increase the potential of creating gaming and entertainment features.
