The biggest event in the game industry will be held again this summer but will be absent from the big three Sony, Xbox, and Nintendo.

According to a report by IGN sources and VGC, Nintendo, and PlayStation will not be at the reorganized E3 2023 show after years of absence. The game event will officially take place from June 13 to June 16, organized by ReedPop, which has taken over the event on behalf of the Entertainment Software Association.

Accordingly, Nintendo decided not to attend E3 2023 because it felt the company was not having many major releases to showcase at the leading game event in the industry. Previously Nintendo was one of the big companies always present at E3, the last time the company appeared at the event was in 2019.

Sony Interactive Entertainment’s absence isn’t too surprising as it skipped the last E3 show in 2019 entirely and announced that it also had no plans to attend the 2020 event before it was canceled due to the pandemic.

On the Microsoft side, the company will also not be present at the Los Angeles convention center (USA) because it has its own plans in the summer.

Losing all three of the big names in the industry will be a blow to this year’s E3, but sources suggest that there will still be a presence of major game companies at the event. ReedPop also told VGC that they have received a lot of interest from the biggest companies in the industry, so joining will be exciting news.

In August last year, another leading exhibition event of the game industry, Gamescom, also returned from a hiatus due to the pandemic. Here, more than 500 companies attended, including big names like 2K, Bandai Namco, Sega, Ubisoft, Warner Games and Plaion.
