The European Commission wants to create a label for AI-generated content

Artificial intelligence is a hot topic, especially in light of misinformation. Due to this, the European Commission suggested on Monday creating a Label to distinguish content produced by artificial intelligence.

The European Union is having discussions about AI, and one of the bills being discussed has recently come under fire from Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI. In fact, he has threatened to leave Europe if it is implemented.

Yet the idea of strict regulation, or even a total ban, seems rather popular with the general public and experts.

It must be said that Artificial Intelligence is not only made people happy. Two areas in particular are the subject of concern: art and information.

For artists, artificial intelligence is indeed unfair competition, and there are real questions about the question of the origin of the data processed.

And many experts have expressed concern about the ability of artificial intelligence to create misinformation, for example by creating larger-than-life images or drowning information in an avalanche of text generated by language models. such as GPT4.

In this context, EU Commissioner Vera Jourova said on Monday the need to see the content generated by IA with a label that would make it possible to distinguish it from the content created by a human being.

It also reminded tech companies of the importance of complying with the rules of the 2022 Code of Practice on disinformation signed. Twitter, which left the code a few weeks ago, will be more surveillance.

This is only one of the cornerstones of European regulations in terms of artificial intelligence, and much more can be expected from the Union. The AI Act, for example, has not yet entered into force, but it is likely that it will, in its final version, be much more restrictive than the current rules
