Will the future of smartphone software be completely replaced by artificial intelligence (AI) and no longer have applications?
According to Android Authority, this year’s MWC conference (taking place in Spain) witnessed many unique ideas and products from the mobile industry, including an AI concept phone by Deutsche carrier. Telekom from Germany was introduced.
Specifically, Deutsche Telekom introduced a new phone that operates entirely on AI and has no traditional applications. This is an experimental device that is said to be able to handle all user needs with the help of artificial intelligence instead of apps
The idea for this device may have come from the company’s belief in a possible future for smartphones. “I can tell you that in five to 10 years, none of us will be using apps anymore,” said Deutsche Telekom CEO Tim Hoettges.
Illustrating the use of this phone, the company demonstrates sending requests and receiving automatically generated recommendations for travel, food, or products to buy. Or you can take a photo and ask AI to send it to friends or relatives
Deutsche Telekom developed this AI concept phone in collaboration with Qualcomm and Brain.AI – the company already has an iOS app that claims to have similar functionality to the above phone. However, most reviews of the app seem to be negative.
Since this is just an idea, there is a high possibility that a phone without this application will just end up in the form of ‘vaporware’ – software that is announced but never released
