Earlier this year, when Google Stadia was discontinued, the company announced that part of the project’s cloud computing infrastructure would still run on Google Cloud and be made available to interested third-party companies. this technology.

Now, however, Axios reporter Stephen Totilo reports that the service has also been closed. Since the reconfiguration of how it works, cloud computing services have been exploited in a rather limited way. For example, only AT&T customers are offered the streaming version of Batman: Arkham Knight. The service is also used by non-gaming companies like Peloton fitness group to provide paid versions of workouts over the cloud.

Announcing the plan to shut down Stadia in September 2022, platform general manager Phil Harrison admitted that the service hasn’t attracted users as Google had hoped after it launched in November 2019.

At the time of the closure announcement, Google also confirmed that it intended to issue refunds on all Stadia hardware purchases made through the Google Store as well as purchases of game content and add-ons. made through the Stadia store.
