The new iPad Pro may use an AI-powered M4 chip

According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter, the upcoming iPad Pro may come equipped with an M4 chip instead of an M3 chip. This upgrade is expected to support the artificial intelligence features that Apple is currently developing.

Apple has been actively upgrading its computer processors and is set to launch the M4 chip later this year with its new iMac, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini. However, bringing the M4 to the iPad Pro is a significant change and is likely to come with new features such as an OLED display, a repositioned FaceTime front camera, and redesigned Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil accessories.

The M4 chip is expected to support a range of AI features that Apple plans to launch on its new iPad line, along with an upgraded neural processor. Specific details about these features are likely to be announced at the WWDC 2024 developers conference in June, according to 9to5Mac.

The “Let Loose” event, scheduled for May 7, is expected to be the platform for Apple to launch its new iPad Pro, iPad Air, Magic Keyboard, and Apple Pencil. The M4 chip’s integration into the new iPad Pro is expected to be a significant highlight of the event, as it marks Apple’s shift towards AI hardware. Apple also plans to integrate AI chips into other products such as the PC lines and the iPhone 16 series.
