The US and its allies are currently leading an international task force in search of Dmitry Khoroshev, the suspected leader of the notorious LockBit ransomware gang. The group has been involved in various illegal activities, including extorting victims, selling stolen data, and renting ransomware software to other criminal groups.

To support a successful arrest, law enforcement agencies have offered a reward of 10 million USD for any information related to Khoroshev’s whereabouts. This person is wanted on 26 counts of ‘computer fraud and abuse’ in the US, which are believed to have netted him more than $100 million.

Khoroshev, also known as ‘LockBitSupp,’ is hiding in Kaliningrad, Russia, and faces sanctions from the US, UK, and Australia, including freezing assets and being placed on the no-fly list.

LockBit has been responsible for many major cyber attacks targeting businesses and organizations worldwide, including more than 1,700 businesses in the US. The group’s most famous victims include Boeing Airlines, ION Financial Services, and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China.

The campaign against LockBit has disrupted the group’s operations and reduced its ability to carry out attacks. However, US and UK officials warn that LockBit remains a significant cybersecurity threat globally, particularly for businesses.
