The Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro duo launched with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip

Xiaomi has just officially announced the Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip that Qualcomm just launched, making them the first Android smartphones to come with the most powerful chip today.

According to The Verge, at the initial stage, Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro are offered exclusively in China before being released to the global market. Besides the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, they also come with an integrated artificial intelligence (AI) feature set as well as a new Android interface called HyperOS instead of MIUI that Xiaomi just introduced

Xiaomi 14 has a 6.3-inch screen and Xiaomi 14 Pro has a 6.7-inch screen, however, they both offer a maximum brightness of 3,000 nits and are both LTPO screens with an adaptive refresh rate of 1 – 120 Hz. The standard version has a flat-screen and narrow bezels measuring 1.61 mm on three sides, while the bottom bezel is 1.71 mm thick.

As for the iPhone 14 Pro, the screen area is flat but the bezels are created in a curve around the edges and corners of the screen. However, their overall shape is the same as they both have a flat frame design along the edges.

Xiaomi 14 Pro comes with a variable aperture main camera lens with 1,024 stops between f/1.4 maximum and f/4.0 minimum aperture, which is more flexible than the Xiaomi 13 Ultra which only has 2 Stop points. Both Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro are equipped with a 50 MP main camera with a Leica lens, a 3x 50 MP telephoto camera, and a 50 MP ultra-wide camera.

This duo of Xiaomi products is equipped with HyperOS – a new interface system developed by Xiaomi based on Android. HyperOS is designed to run on many types of devices such as mobile phones, computers, and cars promising to bring all devices in Xiaomi’s ecosystem together to make working back and forth easier. For example, users can use the phone’s camera with a computer or access the phone’s data from a tablet

The Xiaomi Duo 14 also gets major on-device AI support, which is a standout feature on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This allows them to do some interesting work, such as summarizing pages web and video conference recordings. Xiaomi is also working on more ambitious features, such as creating AI portraits to put subjects in different scenes around the globe. That will be the common theme of AI features on phones in 2024, which is expected to bring both usefulness and concern.

Xiaomi devices are now ready to accept pre-orders with a starting price of 3,999 yuan (546$) for Xiaomi 14 and 4,999 yuan (683$) for Xiaomi 14 Pro
