There are up to 200 million ChatGPT users every week

ChatGPT, OpenAI’s popular AI chatbot, has experienced astonishing growth according to reports. Its weekly user base has doubled, reaching over 200 million users from 100 million in just one year. This surge in popularity extends to the corporate world, with 92% of Fortune 500 companies now utilizing ChatGPT. OpenAI’s launch of the cost-effective GPT-4 Mini model has also led to a doubling in API usage.

This success has triggered increased competition in the generative AI field, with major players like Google, Microsoft, and Meta launching their chat tools AI. Notably, Meta’s AI assistant has achieved 400 million monthly active users and 185 million weekly active users, despite being unavailable in key markets such as the UK, Brazil, and the EU.

In other news, the American AI Safety Institute revealed that OpenAI and Anthropic have agreed to let the government assess large AI models before their public release. Moreover, there are reports that Apple and Nvidia may be involved in OpenAI’s upcoming investment round.
