In recent years, sending voice messages has become a new standard of communication, sometimes taking the writing of messages into the background. On WhatsApp, it is possible to send more or less long voice messages to its recipients. However, the status of each user must be written by typing on the numeric keypad of the smartphone.
According to WABetaInfo, the arrival of a new update should allow WhatsApp users to record a voice note and post it as a status update. These audio messages will last a maximum of 30 seconds and will be deleted 24 hours after publication.
No need to send a voice message to all your contacts, a single voice message linked to your status will be heard by everyone. However, if a user wants more privacy, he can select in the settings who can listen to the voice note(s). In addition, it will be possible to listen to your own voice message before publishing. Everyone is then free to delete it or publish it.
As we can see in this screenshot, the new feature will be available in the “Status” section. The appearance of a microphone icon clearly indicates that it will be possible to record audio.
As with the entire WhatsApp interface, these status voice notes will be encrypted. It will also be possible for the user to delete his voice note at any time.
So far, only a few people have been able to test a beta version of the feature. A successful version should be deployed to other users soon.
