Windows updates cause VPN connection problems

Microsoft has recently acknowledged that some users are encountering VPN connection errors on their Windows clients and servers after installing the April 2024 update. This issue is causing a dropped VPN connection and an error to occur on the client and server, which is affecting several platforms, including Windows 11 23H2, Windows 11 22H2, Windows 11 21H2, Windows 10 22H2, and Windows 10 21H2, as well as Windows Server 2022, Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2008 R2, and Windows Server 2008.

Microsoft has assured that it is working on a solution to this problem and will provide a fix in the upcoming update. The company is also investigating user reports and will provide more information in the coming days.

In the meantime, Microsoft has recommended that users uninstall the April 2024 security update and revert to the previous update as a temporary measure. However, it is important to note that rolling back to the previous version may result in losing the bug fixes and security improvements included in the April update, so users should only do that if they are willing to sacrifice their security. For those who do not use a VPN, the April 2024 update will help users feel more secure when using Windows.
