WordPress 6.4 Beta 1 Released

WordPress 6.4 Beta 1 has been released, featuring updates from the last five releases of the Gutenberg plugin along with upcoming enhancements. The release was led by an underrepresented gender release squad. New features include font management, allowing users to manage their font library independently of their theme, and font face support for server-side style generation and printing. Additionally, developers can now automatically insert blocks relative to another block using the Block Hooks feature. Core support for lightbox functionality for image blocks has also been added.

Other improvements include expanded design tools, command palette updates, and enhancements to the list view. Furthermore, a new default theme called Twenty Twenty-Four has been introduced, offering a range of templates and patterns suitable for various use cases. You can view a demo of the theme at 2024.wordpress.net.

WordPress 6.4, the upcoming major release of 2023, is set to bring significant accessibility and performance improvements.
