Imagine being able to use the Ctrl, Alt, or Shift keys right on your Xbox controller.
According to VGC, Xbox is preparing to provide the ability to assign keys on PC keyboards to controller buttons in the future. The new feature has now been added to the latest Alpha and Alpha Skip-Ahead builds of the Xbox platform, and is available to members of the Xbox Insider program only
An initial test rollout to Xbox Insiders is always done to ensure that the new feature works as best it can, before rolling out to all Xbox users in an upcoming update.
According to the latest Alpha build notes, the feature is currently working on two controllers, the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and the Xbox Adaptive Controller.
Xbox notes that players can only assign the control button to a single key, as can any modifier key combination (including Windows, Shift, Ctrl, or Alt). For example, a player can assign the Share button on the controller to the ‘S’ key of the keyboard or the Ctrl+Alt+S combination, but the Ctrl+Alt+S+A combination will not be accepted because there are two letter keys S and A.
Besides, it should be noted that key support is also game dependent, so some games will offer full support, partial support, or no support
