Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 launched, equipped with Leica lens

Xiaomi has just introduced the Mix Fold 2 – one of the thinnest folding smartphones to date with dimensions of only 5.4 mm when opened and 11.2 mm when closed, including the camera part with Leica lens.

According to Engadget, the Mix Fold 2 weighs 262 grams and has a delicate hinge developed by Xiaomi, combining alloy and carbon fiber panels along with a concave structure in the middle and a compact layered design.

The product comes with a 6.56-inch AMOLED screen at the front with an aspect ratio of 21: 9, close to what users see on a regular smartphone, which means typing will be less cramped. The device still refreshes at 120 Hz and is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus. Xiaomi also added a 20MP selfie camera housed in the punch-hole.

The main 8-inch LTPO2 OLED display has a resolution of 1,914 x 2,160 pixels and a variable refresh rate from 1 – 120 Hz. It is an Eco2 OLED screen that removes the polarization layer for better display transparency while providing low power consumption. The main display is HDR10+, Dolby Vision certified, and uses Schott UTG glass for added durability. The screen’s maximum brightness is rated at 1,300 nits.

Mix Fold 2 comes with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip combined with 12 GB RAM and up to 1 TB internal memory. The rear of the device has a 50 MP Sony IMX766 main sensor with OIS and Leica optics. Like the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, the Mix Fold 2 has Leica Authentic and Vibrant photography styles, as well as some Leica filters. The back also has a 13MP ultra-wide camera and an 8MP telephoto camera with zoom 2x optical

Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 comes with a 4,500 mAh battery that supports 67W fast wired charging and MIUI Fold 13 interface based on Android 12. The phone comes in two colors gold and black with prices starting at $1,340 for the 12/256 GB version and up to $1,780 for 12 GB RAM – 1 TB internal storage. Pre-orders of the device will start on August 16 and it is not clear when Xiaomi will ship globally.
