During the recent Samsung Developer Conference (SDC), it was announced that the deployment of the One UI 7 update, based on Android 15, will commence next year. This news may disappoint Samsung Galaxy smartphone users who have eagerly awaited the One UI 7 update. The delay is particularly frustrating given that Xiaomi is rumored to be preparing to roll out Android 15 to its users soon.
According to a report from Gizmochina, Xiaomi smartphone users can expect to receive HyperOS 2.0, based on Android 15, as early as October. The update is anticipated to be released alongside the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro models, with older Xiaomi devices also slated to receive the Android 15 experience through subsequent rollouts.
It is worth noting that the initial release of HyperOS 2.0 will likely occur in China before expanding globally around December 2024 and early 2025. This timeline suggests that Xiaomi’s update may precede Samsung’s release of One UI 7, which is expected to coincide with the launch of the Galaxy S25 series in January 2025.
Speaking of One UI 7, the upcoming update is expected to bring significant changes, including a complete design overhaul. Reports indicate that One UI 7 will introduce notable interface changes, such as a redesigned Camera app with most controls placed at the bottom of the screen for easier one-handed use. Other anticipated updates include a redesigned Settings app, battery indicator, split notification panel, updated camera interface, and app library color theme, which appear to draw inspiration from Apple’s iOS. Additionally, One UI 7 is expected to offer smoother animations.
