YouTube researches AI solutions to stop watching videos from being boring

YouTube is currently testing a new feature to enhance viewers’ video-watching experience through AI technology. According to Android Authority, this feature is currently only available to some YouTube Premium users in the US and uses AI and user behavior data to predict the parts of the video that the viewer wants to watch and jump to that position when they double-tap the screen to fast-forward. The goal of this feature is to make the service more efficient and engaging for its users.

This test follows YouTube’s recent efforts to improve its design and add new features to encourage more people to switch to its premium service. It is not yet known whether this feature will become a regular part of the platform once the testing phase is completed.

In June 2020, YouTube began testing a new feature that encouraged users who used ad-blockers to turn them off if they wanted to watch content on the platform. After the successful test, the feature was officially rolled out.
