YouTube testing ‘1080p Premium’ play option

Some YouTube viewers have reported that they’ve started seeing a new option for video quality in the site’s drop-down menu.
According to Engadget , in addition to the basic 1,080p playback option, these people said they also see another option labeled ” 1,080p Premium ” with a note below stating that this option offers “Enhanced bitrate.” The information was also acknowledged by a YouTube spokesperson and said that the site is testing a new video quality that is currently available to a small group of YouTube Premium subscribers.

YouTube describes it as an enhanced bitrate version of 1,080p with the aim of providing more information per pixel, resulting in a higher quality viewing experience. Other than that, there are no changes to the quality of the standard 1,080p resolution.

Despite this, discussing on Reddit, some viewers said they found the standard 1,080p resolution on the site to be of poor quality. A higher bitrate, which is used as a measurement of the amount of video data transferred in a given time frame, could mean it gets a better picture without increasing resolution. It is known that switching to 4K will allow viewers to access sharper and better videos, but it will stream a much larger file and cost viewers more money or consume more data. than.

For now, the enhanced 1080p video playback option is just an experimental feature, and YouTube could completely eliminate the widespread rollout of the feature. In case this feature is approved, only YouTube Premium paid subscribers will be able to access it.
