YouTube will have free games for all users

YouTube is preparing to launch the Playables game app store for its user community. The platform will offer a variety of free games for all users.

The Playables feature aims to help users combat video fatigue by providing them with the option to play games and relax while watching videos. This feature was initially tested with select users before being made available on YouTube Premium.

What’s different about this launch is that users will not require a Premium account to access the Playables platform, thereby increasing competition in the free game market.

Additionally, YouTube has plans to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and expand advertising content on its platform. The implementation of free-to-play games could potentially attract advertisers looking to promote their services within YouTube games.

However, it’s important to note that these are just speculations at this stage. YouTube has not released any official statements, so it remains unclear whether the primary goal is to monetize Playables.

If YouTube does roll out free games to all users, it could significantly increase the platform’s user base, especially given the diverse range of attractive games available on Playables, including popular titles like Angry Birds Showdown, Words of Wonders, and Cut the Rope.

Google has disclosed that the Playables catalog currently comprises over 75 games and is expected to expand with the addition of more exciting games in the future.
