The Guardian site is suspected of having a ransomware attack

It looks like The Guardian has become the latest victim of a ransomware attack, after a “serious IT incident” hit the publication on December 20.

According to Engadget, in the announcement, Editor-in-Chief Katharine Viner and Guardian Media Group CEO Anna Bateson said the majority of the publication’s staff could work from home as has been done during the pandemic.

The Guardian will still be able to publish news on its website and app, while confident leaders will be able to offer a print edition on December 23.

The Guardian organization is not the only news that has suffered a recent security breach. Fast Company was forced to shut down for 8 days due to a cyber attack where hackers provided obscene announcements through Apple News.

Meanwhile, The New York Post claimed in October that a scammer had taken over its website and Twitter account for posting racist and sexist posts.
