Apple prevents developers from using the iOS beta if they don’t pay

With iOS bringing more features and reliability, users are starting to download the iOS developer beta to their main devices to experience. However, this was no longer easy.

According to BGR, because the iOS developer beta is designed for developer testing, Apple decided to make the change as it will help developers try out iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, and watchOS features. the latest version is easier with a simple toggle in the Software Updates tab.

More importantly, the company will lock this experience to Apple ID accounts registered with the Apple Developer Program. That means if users don’t pay $99/year for a developer license, they won’t be able to download the iOS developer beta.

new developer beta testing works This change has been explained by Apple in how iOS 16.4 beta 1. The company says that this new setting will appear in future iOS and iPadOS releases, where the new option helps enable beta for developers and won’t give access to regular users.

However, this does not mean that users are prevented from testing the iOS beta. In fact, Apple only limits the developer beta to developers. Usually, developers have spare iPhones, Apple Watches, Macs, and Apple TVs to try out upcoming features without interfering with their primary device.

The problem is, this beta version sometimes has bugs or even crashes the device, so having it installed by the user on his main device causes consequences like losing access to banking apps or games on to favorite mobile is not compatible with some APIs

Recently, Apple separated the developer beta from the public beta. This helps Apple avoid headaches related to its users. So, if users still want to try the latest iOS betas, they can join Apple’s Public Beta Program, not only for iOS but also for other mobile platforms.
