Microsoft brings AI to SwiftKey keyboard for Android

While Android users can experience Bing AI Chat on SwiftKey keyboard soon, iPhone owners will have to wait a little longer.

The investment in OpenAI is helping Microsoft bring artificial intelligence (AI) to many of its existing products. The Bing search engine became the first service to integrate ChatGPT, followed by the Edge browser (on computers, apps for Android and iOS). While the Office package is still waiting for its turn, Microsoft has recently brought Bing Chat AI to its SwiftKey keyboard software for Android

This combination gives Android hosters access and use of chatbots with the same features as on Bing. To experience, users need to install the SwiftKey Beta application (downloaded from the Google Play Store software store on Android devices). After installing and opening up for the first time, device owners will have to sign in with their Microsoft account to start the Beta program.

Bing AI will appear in the toolbar at the top of the SwiftKey keyboard. When users click on the Bing icon, a search box and AI-integrated editing window will appear. The current main task of artificial intelligence on the keyboard is to improve the text entered by the user in the editing area with different voices. On Edge, the same feature is also used to compose and write emails

However, according to the Director Technology in charge of Mobile and Commerce segment For Microsoft’s Pedram Rezaei, the feature is “released gradually”. Only some users can use SwiftKey with AI at the moment, while others say they have not yet seen the chatbot on the keyboard.

Last year, Microsoft removed the iOS SwiftKey and re-released it. iPhone and iPad users can currently download and use this software, but there is no AI testing program yet. However, the arrival of Bing AI on Android could be a sign that something similar is coming to iOS
