The addition of a web version for computers is said to help Threads better retain users.

social network Meta’s Threads has quickly become one of the most talked about social media platforms after reaching 100 million users in less than a week. The platform also launched at a time when Twitter is struggling to maintain itself in the face of constant change from billionaire Elon Musk.

However, the success of Threads was also quickly forgotten when the number of regular users began to decline rapidly. Part of the reason is that this social network is only available on iOS and Android

According to The Wall Street Journal, Adam Mosseri – Instagram CEO – has announced Threads will be getting a browser version soon. Responding on this social network, Mosseri said that the staff is using it internally for about two weeks.

Until now, Threads users were forced to access the platform through the mobile app. Technically, users can access it on a computer by clicking the Threads icon on the Instagram profile in a web browser, but accessing the thread.net address only leads to a QR code to download the mobile app.

The report says the web version of Threads will launch this week. That means the social media platform will eventually be available on desktop computers and much more accessible to desktop surfers. This is already very familiar with today’s popular social networking platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, and even X (Twitter).

Having a web version will help Threads re-engage a user base since it’s already accessible on a variety of devices. It will also help increase your chances of making money because it opens up opportunities for many different advertisers. A definite benefit is that many companies and brands will easily manage their accounts without having to hand over their phones with apps installed.
