According to 9to5Mac, TikTok is one application that constantly reads the user’s clipboard. This information is recognized if a new security banner is always displayed on the screen every time the application is being run on ios14. This not only annoys iOS 14 beta users but also worries them about copying data from TikTok. Personal data is not permitted.
In response, TikTok said the application did not collect data from the clipboard. Instead, the application has a special system for identifying repetitive spam behavior. The company says that this feature activates the new iOS 14 privacy banner, so TikTok no longer automatically accesses the user’s clipboard for future application updates.
“For TikTok, this is enabled by a feature designed to identify spam, repetitive behavior. We have sent an updated version of the application to the App Store to remove spam protection in order to resolve any potential confusion. TikTok is committed to protecting user privacy and being transparent about how our app works, ”the company said.
According to the Telegraph report, there are other applications besides TikTok that constantly check iOS clipboards, including AccuWeather, Overstock, AliExpress, Call of Duty Mobile, Patreon and Google News. It’s not clear why each of these applications read what users have copied from other applications, but the TikTok solution proves that Apple needs more security tools.
