Google is experimenting with adding traffic lights to its mapping application. In the near future, users will be able to see traffic lights on Google Maps when they search for locations or directions. Google is working to add traffic light support to Google Maps, similar to features added to Apple Maps on iOS 13 a year ago.
Traffic light icons are small and difficult to detect, although they will be slightly enlarged when the user is in driving mode. Currently, Google has not yet implemented to highlight these icons probably because the feature is still in beta and is a server-side demo for a limited group of Android users.
Hopefully in the official update will overcome these disadvantages. And it’s possible that the traffic light in Google Maps will only be available in US regions before expanding to other parts of the world.
The addition of traffic lights in Google Maps will be helpful for users in the case of urgent business and because they can avoid routes with too many signal lights. It will also help them be aware of where traffic lights are in an unknown area.
