Apple added a 13-inch MacBook Pro with a Retina display released in late 2012 to its list of outdated products.
According to AppleInsider, the specific model was first released in October 2012 and is Apple’s first 13-inch MacBook Pro model to feature a Retina display. Apple’s inclusion on the outdated list comes about 9 years after the first product was released.
In June 2020, Apple also added a 15-inch MacBook Pro with a Retina display to its list of obsolete devices. It was the first 15-inch mobile Mac to feature Apple’s Retina display technology.
Apple defines “classic” devices as devices that have not been produced for more than five years but for less than seven years. “Outdated” devices are devices that have been out of production for more than 7 years. Outdated devices cannot get hardware service from an Apple technician or an authorized service provider, and there are no exceptions.
