AirPods Max 2 will have touch controls

Apple has filed for a new patent called “Wireless Headset Interaction,” which confirms that it will replace the Digital Crown button with a touch surface.

According to Diginews, the patent content reported by Patently Apple suggests that the company will likely apply a new audio control system to the next-generation AirPods Max model.

This is all the more grounded because the company has previously received a patent for a touch-controlled smart fabric for oversized headphones. In addition, the company also received two other patents related to providing users with touch input on the outside of the earpads.

Even receiving a patent does not guarantee that this technology will be implemented by Apple right on the AirPods Max 2 model, the product is still unknown when it will be released.

Previously, Apple was reported to release the brand new wireless earbuds AirPods Pro 2 in the coming months. According to the report, the headset will receive a new design and a replacement chip system for the Apple H1, allowing the headset to extend its use time without recharging, and help to switch between connected devices become smoother. Along with that, the product is also expected to integrate a sensor to track exercise.
