Apple and its App Store in trouble in South Korea

The 15 and 16 November next , to be held in South Korea in Seoul, the Coalition for Equity conference applications. Of course, Apple and the App Store are going to be discussed, given that the creator of Fortnite is in conflict with the maker of the iPhone.

The Coalition for App Fairness is an independent, non-profit organization created to protect consumer choice, encourage competition, and create a level playing field for all app and game developers around the world.

A discussion around new laws

Tim Sweeney will not be alone, he will be accompanied by members of Coalition for App Fairness . This is a group that was born a little over a year ago now. It brings together Epic Games , Spotify , Match (owner of Tinder ) , Deezer and other companies. The whole criticizes the App Store for three reasons: 30% commission, inability to install an alternative App Store or an application from the Internet, and unfair practices on the part of Apple.

South Korea, in fact, recently passed a law preventing Apple and Google from taxing their payment systems on the App Store and the Play Store. In the process, Epic asked that Apple put Fortnite back on the App Store, but the group refused, believing that the law does not oblige it to do so.

For the more curious, it will be possible to follow the event live on YouTube. The conference will be available in English, French and Korean. The live will be available on the night of November 15 to 16.
