Apple rolled out iOS 14.5.1 to fix important security bugs

Apple released an update for iOS 14.5.1 to address a security issue that could be used by hackers to attack users with iOS 14.5 installed.

According to Bleepingcomputer, iOS 14.5.1 contains security fixes for two dangerous security holes that Apple says it has actively exploited. Specifically, it addresses two zero-day vulnerabilities in WebKit that could generate malicious web content, resulting in arbitrary code execution. The former is caused by memory corruption, while the second is caused by an integer overflow.

In addition to iOS 14.5.1, Apple released updates to address similar vulnerabilities in other devices, including iOS 12.5.3 (for older iPhones that can’t run iOS 14), iPadOS 14.5 .1, and macOS Big Sur 11.3. 1.

Apart from the fix, Apple also fixed an issue with the ATT feature where some users said the ATT button is greyed out. Apple also fixed an ATT issue where some users turned off “Allow apps to track in Settings” but didn’t receive app requests after turning it back on.

IPhone users who want to update can go to Settings> General> Software Update to download and install it.
