EA has officially revealed Ridgeline Games, the new Battlefield development studio led by Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto.
According to The Verge, EA has formed a Battlefield with the task of working on a narrative campaign game project for the longstanding shooter franchise. According to a press release, studio Ridgeline Games is based in Kirkland, Washington (USA) and is led by Marcus Lehto, the co-creator of the Halo
The company did not share details about the new Battlefield, when it will be released, or what platforms it will support. Fans of Battlefield who’ve been disappointed in Battlefield 2042.
And as EA continues to push further into live-service games, such as Skate, it’s a good sign that the company is still investing in more narrative-focused experiences.
EA first said it would build a development team led by Lehto when it appointed Respawn boss Vince Zampella in charge of Battlefield a few weeks after the launch of Battlefield 2042. Despite Battlefield 2042 franchise Battlefield, longtime CEO Andrew Wilson said in February that the company is ‘fully committed to the potential of Battlefield 2042 and is working on a Battlefield will release this year.
DICE developer Battlefield 2042 also announced that creative director Lars Gustavsson, who has worked on the franchise for over 20 years, will leave the studio.
