According to GizChina, the famous leak account Jon Prosser claims that Apple will release a future iOS version under the name iPhone OS, most likely iOS 14. This is the name Apple uses for the original iPhone operating system. In general, this is suitable for the iPadOS brand.
When the late CEO Steve Jobs released the first generation iPhone in 2007, he called it an iPhone with OS X, but when the product was released, it was officially described using the iPhone OS. The name was changed to iOS later in 2010 when the iPad was released.
This new Tweet is one of the shortest leaks from Prosser. It does not contain details or comments other than the words “iPhone OS”. With WWDC 2020 on June 22, Apple will likely announce the next iOS version at that time.
Last year during WWDC 2019, Apple introduced iPadOS as a new name and branch for the cellular operating system that the company developed separately from iOS.
