The Nintendo Wii U and 3DS Netflix apps will stop working after June 30. Nintendo has announced that it will close the Netflix app for Wii U and various 3DS devices on June 30. For new users, the above movie streaming services for both devices are no longer available for download from the Nintendo eShop.
In an announcement advising users on its website, Nintendo said the Netflix app was removed from their eShop on December 31, 2020. That means if you’re just starting to use Wii U and 3DS, it may be possible to download apps no longer.
According to Nintendo, current users can still watch movies on Netflix or re-download the apps on both devices, but only until the end of June this year. After that date, the service will stop working on all Wii U and 3DS devices including 3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS XL, old and new 2DS, as well as Wii U Deluxe and Wii U Basic.
Netflix’s arrival on the Nintendo Switch is also uncertain. Reggie Fils-Aime, former president of Nintendo of America, promised in 2017 that apps like Hulu and Netflix would appear on the device, but there is no indication that it will happen anytime soon. On the other hand, Hulu is available on Switch for US users.
