The Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications has reported widespread difficulties in accessing internet connectivity in Ghana today, March 14th, 2024. The root cause of this issue is attributed to outages on multiple submarine optic fiber cables that connect to Ghana

These cables serve as the primary backbone for internet connectivity in the country and are crucial for maintaining uninterrupted access to the internet for businesses and individuals alike

The Chamber of Telecommunications has recently issued a statement informing the public that some of the telecommunication service providers in the country are currently facing outages that have significantly affected their internet, data, and voice-over IP services, leading to disruptions in communication and connectivity for customers.

According to an official communication, Telecel is currently facing a complete outage of their services as they were heavily reliant on the SAT3 network, which has since been disconnected due to the damage. On the other hand, MTN has activated their backup internet on the MainOne cable, although they can only offer limited internet access at the moment. In light of this situation, MTN has decided to prioritize corporate services to ensure that their business clients can continue to operate with minimal disruption.
