If the leak is accurate, this could be the largest screen that Apple has ever equipped on a laptop.

According to TechSpot, rumors about iPhones, iPads, and foldable laptops have been around for years, but Apple’s folding device ambitions seem to be about to become a reality.

For a long time, this technology giant has been famous for its ability to “remain inactive” until new technologies become complete before participating. If these long-standing rumors about a 20-inch folding MacBook are true, it means Apple thinks folding laptop technology is finally ready for commercialization.

The future of folding screens is opening up for Apple, with reports saying the technology giant is developing a laptop with a folding screen as large as 20 inches. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, this unique MacBook is expected to be mass-produced in 2027.

In a recent post on X, Kuo revealed that the 20.3-inch MacBook is “Apple’s only folding screen product with a clear development schedule”. While details are scarce, this statement suggests that folding iPhones and iPads may still be a distant dream for Apple fans.

Display expert Ross Young previously mentioned that Apple is developing a 20.5-inch folding screen laptop, slightly different from Kuo’s 20.3-inch claim.

The question is what this masterpiece will look like and how it will work. Most foldable laptops today, like the LG Gram Fold or HP Specter Foldable, can switch between tablet mode and a traditional clamshell design with a removable keyboard. Perhaps Apple’s product will offer a full-screen virtual keyboard when folded and eliminate physical keys.

Regardless of form factor, the 20-inch folding screen will certainly be Apple’s largest laptop screen. Currently, the company’s largest laptop product is the 16-inch MacBook Pro, as the company discontinued the 17-inch model in 2012.

In general, folding screens are a trend and Apple cannot stand aside when Samsung, Motorola, LG, and other companies are constantly innovating. 2027 will give Apple enough time to further refine and perfect this technology before launching its first products
