The Sim 4 is about to become a free game after 8 years of launch

Electronic Arts have announced that The Sims 4 will become a free-to-play title starting on October 18.

According to Neowin, the hugely popular social game from EA and Maxis, The Sims 4 will soon become a free-to-play game. The transition comes eight years after it was first released on PC in 2014, followed by the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions released in 2017.

“We’re excited to continue welcoming even more players to create new stories and discoveries,” the company said of the move. ” The Sims always celebrates new ways to play and offers so many possibilities to explore.”

The game will go free-to-play, offering everything from character creation and building modes to a complete Sims. The 12 official expansion packs and many of the Game Packs, Stuff Packs, and Kits, which the title has received since launch will be available as premium DLC. Players can currently own them for about 1000 USD.

Those who purchased the game before it was converted to the free genre will receive a free Desert Luxe furniture pack. Meanwhile, EA Play (Get To Work Expansion) and EA Play Pro (Get To Work Expansion and Toddler Stuff Pack) members will receive a couple of The Sims 4 as additional benefits with the subscription.

For fans worried that this move could be the end of new content, EA has added that its developers will continue to develop new item packs for The Sims 4 forward. near future.

Starting October 18, 2022, The Sims 4 will be free to download and play on Windows (EA app, Origin, Steam), macOS, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
