Electronic Arts have announced that The Sims 4 will become a free-to-play title starting on October 18.
According to Neowin, the hugely popular social game from EA and Maxis, The Sims 4 will soon become a free-to-play game. The transition comes eight years after it was first released on PC in 2014, followed by the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions released in 2017.

The game will go free-to-play, offering everything from character creation and building modes to a complete Sims. The 12 official expansion packs and many of the Game Packs, Stuff Packs, and Kits, which the title has received since launch will be available as premium DLC. Those who purchased the game before it was converted to the free genre will receive a free Desert Luxe furniture pack. Meanwhile, EA Play (Get To Work Expansion) and EA Play Pro (Get To Work Expansion and Toddler Stuff Pack) members will receive a couple of The Sims 4 as additional benefits with the subscription.
For fans worried that this move could be the end of new content, EA has added that its developers will continue to develop new item packs for The Sims 4 forward. near future.
