Apple has officially added the first 7.9-inch iPad mini that was first released by the company in 2012 to the list of “antique” and “old” devices.
According to Apple Insider, the first iPad mini was released in November 2012. Apple’s goal is to help customers “find more iPad applications and use them in places they never imagined”. Apple previously added regular iPad models to the “classic” and “outdated” product listings.
Apple defines “classic” devices as hardware that has not been in production for more than five years but less than seven years. “Outdated” products are those that have been discontinued for more than seven years.
Classic products can still be serviced and repaired by Apple’s official service providers, but only if the store has the required stock. Outdated products do not meet the repair conditions at these points.
When you first start, high mobility thanks to a 7.9-inch screen and low prices make the iPad mini an attractive choice for many users. Apple finally updated the device in 2013 but offered the original iPad mini for sale until production stopped in 2015.
The iPad mini catalog was last updated in March 2019 with the iPad mini 5, which brings performance improvements and Pencil accessories support. Recent reports have suggested that Apple is preparing a new iPad mini with thin bezels and screens from 8.5 inches to 9 inches.
Apple has an up-to-date list of classic and outdated products on its website, which its recent additions include some 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air models, along with 13-inch MacBook Pro models. mid 2014.
