Microsoft has just officially released an application that supports iPhone sync with Windows 11 called Phone Link, which is now available to all users of its operating system.

According to Engadget, first announced in February, Phone Link allows syncing of calls, contacts, and messages (including limited iMessage support) between iPhones and Windows 11 computers. In fact, Phone Link has been around since 2015 under a different name to allow Windows computer users to sync with Android phones, but this is the first time this tool supports iPhone

Microsoft has rolled out Phone Link’s iPhone support in stages. Starting with members of the Windows Insider program at the end of February this year, before promising to support all Windows 11 users by mid-May. So the appearance of this tool lives up to the promise that it made. The company has launched, allowing all users of Windows 11 computers and iPhones to use the new feature.

Phone Link for iPhone has some limitations that Android phones don’t have. First, while it supports iMessage syncing, it doesn’t work with group chats or sending pictures and videos. Also, voice messages and iMessage apps won’t work. Still, Phone Link can serve as a handy integration service that saves users from having to switch between computer and phone.

To link iPhone with Windows 11 computer using Phone Link, users need to make sure iPhone is running iOS 14 or later, the Bluetooth connection on both devices is enabled, and the latest version of the Phone Link app. After opening the app, users need to set up a few things on both devices, including choosing iPhone as their device type and using the phone’s camera to scan the QR code in the Phone Link app. This feature does not work with iPad and macOS. Device compatibility may vary and regional restrictions may apply
