Project Q handheld PlayStation 5 game streamer has been named and priced.

According to VGC, Sony has just announced more details about its new handheld PlayStation 5 game console, specifically, the device is currently named PlayStation Portal. The device, formerly known as Project Q, has a DualSense-like design with an 8-inch LCD screen in the middle. According to Sony, Portal’s display can operate at 1080p resolution and 60 FPS

PlayStation Portal will cost $199.99 when it launches later this year. Although it looks like a traditional handheld game console, it can actually only stream games from the PlayStation 5 console for remote play.

In a new blog post, Sony said: “PlayStation Portal is the perfect device for gamers living in households because they need to share the TV in the living room with loved ones or simply want to play games. PlayStation 5 is in another room in the house.

PlayStation Portal will connect remotely to your PlayStation 5 over Wi-Fi, so you’ll be able to transition quickly from playing on the console to PlayStation Portal. The device can play supported and pre-installed games on the console, as well as use the DualSense controller.

The blog post also confirms that PlayStation Portal is just a remote play device via Remote Play and will not have access to the PlayStation Plus Premium cloud game streaming feature. As such, players will need to own a PlayStation 5 to be able to use PlayStation Portal.

Furthermore, players are also not allowed to “play tricks” when using PlayStation 5 to play games on PS Plus Premium, and then back-streaming that game to Portal.
