Samsung has launched the Galaxy A35 5G and A55 5G, successors to the company’s popular mid-range duo. The phones share many similarities.
According to GSMArena, both the Galaxy A35 and A55 smartphones feature a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,340 pixels and a 120 Hz refresh rate. Additionally, they both use Samsung’s new Key Island design language and are equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 25W charging. However, there is a difference between the two models as the Galaxy A35 features a plastic chassis, while the Galaxy A55 has a metal chassis.
Both the Galaxy A55 and A35 feature glass on both the front and back, making them a major upgrade over their predecessors. The Galaxy A55 is believed to use Gorilla Glass Victus+ on both the front and back, while the Galaxy A35 uses Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the front (no information is available on the back). Gorilla Glass Victus+ is known to be twice as scratch-resistant as Gorilla Glass 5, which was used on the Galaxy A54 and A34.
The Galaxy A55 features an Exynos 1480 chip with Xclipse 530 GPU based on AMD RDNA2. It comes with 8 GB or 12 GB of RAM and 128 GB or 256 GB of internal memory. On the other hand, the Galaxy A35 comes with the older Exynos 1380 chip of the Galaxy A54, though it still performs well with its 5nm chip. Users can choose between 6 GB or 8 GB RAM and 128 GB or 256 GB internal memory.
The Galaxy A55 features a 32 MP f/2.2 front-facing camera, and on the back, it offers a 50 MP f/1.8 main camera with OIS, a 12 MP f/2.2 ultra-wide camera with fixed focus, and a 5 MP f/2.4 macro camera. On the other hand, the Galaxy A35 boasts a 13 MP f/2.2 front-facing camera, and on the back, it has a 50 MP f/1.8 main camera, an 8 MP f/2.2 ultra-wide camera with fixed focus, and a 5 MP f/2.2 macro camera.
This product bundle includes a Samsung Knox Vault feature which is a secure execution environment based on hardware that is physically isolated from the processor and memory. It is designed to safeguard the most critical data on the device such as lock screen login information (including PIN codes and passwords), as well as the phone’s encryption keys. Additionally, the standalone Knox feature is also installed and includes an Auto Blocker option that can prevent suspicious app installations, scan for malware, and block malicious commands
Samsung has committed to provide 4 years of operating system updates and 5 years of security patches for its new Galaxy A series phones. While this is 2 years less than what they offer for their flagship smartphones, it is still a remarkable feat for a mid-range product.
The Galaxy A55 is available in three versions: 8/128 GB which is sold for 480 EUR, 8/256 GB which costs 530 EUR, and the price for the 12/256 GB version is yet to be revealed. On the other hand, the Galaxy A35 is available in two variants: the 6/128 GB version which is priced at 380 EUR, and the 8/256 GB variant which has a maximum retail price of 450 EUR.
