Insomniac Games is reportedly planning to expand its portfolio of Marvel games, following the huge success of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. According to GadgetMatch, leaks suggest that the developer has been working on a range of games set in the Marvel universe, including a highly anticipated Spider-Verse game.

Spider-Verse is a popular concept that portrays the story of Peter Parker and various versions of Spider-Man from multiple universes. In 2021, the highly anticipated animated film, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, was released, which gained immense popularity among fans. Interestingly, leaked information suggested that Insomniac Games, a renowned game development studio, is also working on a video game based on the storyline of this movie.

Recent news reports have revealed that a highly anticipated game called Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Great Web has been canceled. This information was leaked after a concept trailer surfaced on Reddit, revealing that the game was intended to be a massively multiplayer online game inspired by the Spider-Verse story from Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Great Web.

The recently released trailer gives a glimpse of the upcoming collaboration between Peter Parker and various other Spider-Man characters, as they join forces to fight against the notorious Sinister Six. The team comprises well-known heroes such as Parker himself, Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, and Spider-Man 2099.

The recently leaked trailer has garnered much attention for its impressive production value. While the information contained in the trailer is mostly meant for reference purposes, it showcases a range of costumes that players are already familiar with, as well as some new movements that have never been seen before. Additionally, the trailer features the voiceover of well-known actor Yuri Lowenthal, adding to its overall appeal.

It’s worth noting that despite the trailer suggesting that the Spider-Verse game has been canceled, there is still a possibility that it may be released in the future. The decision to cancel the game is understandable, as the previous live-service model superhero game, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, did not achieve the expected success. Developing another superhero game under the same model would undoubtedly come with many challenges.
